(Almost) every Prince song ever recorded and released between 1977-2009, including a couple of concert albums. Enjoy.
Los Angelisto Shuggie Otis - Aht Uh Mi Hed
From the “Inspiration Information” album (recorded 1971-1974).
Reminds me of Bay Area’s Sly & the Family Stone’s “If You Want Me to Stay” (1973) and…something else.
Not too much is written about California Soul (shout-out to Marlena Shaw) when rhapsodizing about the 60s and 70s, but it was quite an influential area/era of music. For example, there’d be no 70s or 80s Prince (and all those musical descendants he spawned) without it or Sly/Musiq/Prince’s (un)original title spelling. California Dreamin, indeed.
5 women - The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale ~ Prince
One of my fav Prince albums in the midst of questionable releases. It reminded me to keep the faith as he put out experimental trash to make a statement/fulfill a contractual obligation to Warner Bros.
Happy birthday, musical genius.

D’Angelo - Sugar Daddy (Live in Philly)
One of the grown folks is baaaaaaaaaack!
He went from wanting some of that brown sugar to being a sugar daddy, though. #evolution
